Welcome to the world of Mei - Chinese for "beautiful." A Mei Vintage handbag conveys just that.
When choosing materials, we are environmentally conscious, using the highest quality leather remnants whenever possible, hemp lining and exquisite fabric taken from vintage kimonos. Each handbag is made with care and thought, utilizing a mixture of new, organic and recycled materials. Our handbags are handmade in the USA in small batches. Our vintage kimono fabric bags come in limited editions and each bag is unique.
ABOUT ALICE HUANG
Designer Alice Huang grew up in Los Angeles and Asia. She translates this bi-cultural upbringing into her unique collection of Asian inspired handbags infused with vintage elements from the ancient Far East.
Alice also draws inspiration from such diverse sources as her travels around the world, architecture, landscape, and various disciplines of Eastern and Western art.
Huang received a Master's Degree in Marketing Communications, with a minor in Graphic Design from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She began collecting vintage kimonos during her college years. Mei Vintage was born from Huang's appreciation of nature and all things cultivated by hand, her passion for textile art, the calm connection she feels from the ocean, sand and wind, and her personal tapestry weaving the rich cultural history of the East with the modern influences of the West.
Alice's line brings together all things "Mei".
